St. Albans Town driver hydroplanes on I-89, crashes in rainy conditions

ST. ALBANS TOWN — A 22-year-old Pennsylvania woman crashed her vehicle after hydroplaning on Interstate 89 northbound during rainy conditions Saturday afternoon.

Claire Davies of Wayne, Pennsylvania, was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek when the vehicle hydroplaned near mile marker 116.2 at 2:13 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The crash occurred during steady rain with wet roadways and standing water in worn sections of the passing lane.

Davies’ vehicle exited the northbound shoulder and came to rest approximately 40 feet from the breakdown lane.

Davies was wearing a seatbelt and sustained suspected minor injuries.

She was transported to Northwestern Medical Center.

The vehicle sustained substantial damage.

St. Albans Town Fire Department and Amcare Ambulance Services assisted Vermont State Police at the scene.
