WALLKILL — A 45-year-old man from Livingston Manor died Thursday after being struck by a tree he was cutting in a wooded area near 38 Derby Road.
Officers responded to the emergency medical call at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 4 and found the victim unconscious and unresponsive on the ground.
A preliminary investigation showed the man suffered serious injuries to his chest and shoulder area when the tree struck him.
Town of Wallkill officers, Howells Fire Department and Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services personnel immediately began life-saving measures including CPR.
The victim was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is continuing.
