UTICA — A 41-year-old Utica man was arrested Sept. 3 on assault and criminal contempt charges stemming from an Aug. 19 incident on Van Vorst Avenue.

Cory Wood was taken into custody without incident on Roberts Street by members of the Utica Police Department’s Warrants Unit.

Police said Wood pushed a victim through a glass door during an argument, causing several lacerations to the victim’s head.

Wood then fled on foot from the scene.

Investigators determined the victim had an active Stay Away Order of Protection against Wood at the time of the incident.

Wood was transported to the Utica Police Department and booked on charges of criminal contempt in the first degree, criminal trespass in the second degree and assault in the third degree.
