ST. ALBANS — A 22-year-old Pennsylvania woman was hospitalized with suspected minor injuries after her vehicle hydroplaned on Interstate 89 during rainy conditions Saturday afternoon.
Claire Davies of Wayne, Pennsylvania, was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek northbound near mile marker 116.2 when the crash occurred at 2:13 p.m.
Vermont State Police said steady rain had created wet roadways with standing water in worn sections of the passing lane.
The vehicle hydroplaned and exited the northbound shoulder, coming to rest approximately 40 feet from the breakdown lane.
Davies was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
She was transported to Northwestern Medical Center by Amcare Ambulance Services.
The Subaru sustained substantial damage.
St. Albans Town Fire Department assisted Vermont State Police at the scene.
