STAMFORD — Stamford Police officers arrested 19-year-old Joshua Arce in the early morning hours of Aug. 30 after he was found near Mill River Park with a loaded 9mm ghost gun and loose ammunition.

An off-duty SPD Narcotics & Organized Crime Squad member obtained information that Arce was armed and passed it to the midnight patrol division, who quickly mobilized and responded.

Officers located Arce near a city playground around 2 a.m.

Ghost guns are untraceable firearms, often built from parts purchased online or made using 3D printing technology.

Arce faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition, illegal transfer of a firearm, manufacturing a firearm, acquisition without a serial number, nine counts of violating a protective order and trespassing.

The investigation remains ongoing.
