LEWISTON — Lewiston Police were dispatched to the area of 110 Pierce Street just after 11 p.m. Sunday following a report of a shooting.
While officers were en route, they learned that the victim had entered a vehicle and was being transported to the hospital.
Investigators later located the victim, identified as 24-year-old Abdiraham Duale of Lewiston, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Duale had sustained seven gunshot wounds and was subsequently transferred to Maine Medical Center for further treatment.
His injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening.
St. Mary’s Hospital briefly went into lockdown due to the unannounced arrival of a gunshot victim.
The investigation remains active.
