WATERVLIET — Watervliet police charged two men with multiple weapons offenses on Sunday night, after a motor vehicle stop led to the recovery of two untraceable “ghost guns.”
Officers conducted the stop at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 31 after observing a vehicle violating the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Police said their investigation resulted in the seizure of two illegally possessed 9mm ghost guns, one of which was equipped with a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Quadir M. Smith, 20, of Watervliet, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a Class E felony; and related traffic violations.
Alejandro R. Reeves, 21, of Albany, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.
Both individuals were arraigned in Watervliet City Court and released to the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department with electronic monitoring.
