2 juveniles arrested in Waterbury stolen car case, gun recovered

WATERBURY — Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force observed a 2016 Honda Accord with a stolen license plate while patrolling the area of 1903 North Main Street at approximately 4:16 p.m. Aug. 28.

The vehicle was later determined to be stolen out of New York.

Officers approached two juvenile males connected to the stolen motor vehicle, ages 15 and 17, both of Waterbury.

The 15-year-old fled on foot, while the 17-year-old remained on scene.

During a brief foot pursuit, the 15-year-old discarded a firearm before being apprehended by officers.

Officers seized a Kel-Tec FP9 firearm during the investigation.

The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trover 2nd degree, theft/illegal possession of number plate and misuse of registration plates.

The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trover 2nd degree, theft of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal transfer/sale of a firearm and interfering with an officer.
