WOONSOCKET — Rhode Island State Police arrested a 30-year-old Woonsocket man on two outstanding bench warrants Tuesday evening.
Jose Rivera Fontanez of 36 Simone Avenue was taken into custody at 5:50 p.m. after troopers made contact with a suspicious person in the city.
Fontanez was arrested on a Sixth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on a willful trespassing charge originating from the North Smithfield Police Department.
He also faced a second Sixth District Court bench warrant for probation violation on an original charge of larceny over $1,500 from the Woonsocket Police Department.
Fontanez was transported to the State Police Scituate Barracks for processing.
He was later taken to the Adult Correctional Institution Men’s Intake Center.
