Elmira police investigate stabbing in 600 block of E. Third St.

ELMIRA — A man suffered a life-threatening stab wound early Sept. 1 in the 600 block of E. Third St., prompting an investigation by Elmira police.

Officers responded at about 12:24 a.m. to the area of Madison Ave. and E. Third St. after a report of a possible assault victim.

They found a male with a serious stab wound to his neck.

Elmira fire personnel and Erway Ambulance assisted officers in rendering aid at the scene.

The man was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for further medical treatment.

Police determined the assault occurred in the 600 block of E. Third St.

Investigators are continuing to look into the incident.
