GENOA — A Genoa man was arrested Aug. 15 after an alleged domestic incident that involved a female victim and a 3-year-old child, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office reported that deputies became aware of the incident at approximately 12:48 a.m. Aug. 15, following events that took place during the late evening hours of Aug. 14 in the Town of Genoa.
Investigators said Joshua J. Todd, 29, of Genoa, grabbed and applied pressure to the victim’s throat during an argument.
The incident was reportedly captured on video and took place in front of a child.
Authorities attempted to locate Todd but were initially unsuccessful.
An arrest warrant for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors, was then granted.
With assistance from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Todd was taken into custody and transported to the Public Safety Building for processing.
Todd was arraigned in CAP Court at 7 p.m. Aug. 15, where bail was set at $2,500.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Genoa Court on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
All suspects accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
