Woman charged with drunk driving with child passenger in LaGrange

LAGRANGE — A Trooper assigned to State Police Poughkeepsie was advised by Dutchess County 911 of a BOLO for an erratic Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound on State Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange on Aug. 31 at approximately 6:29 p.m.

The Trooper observed the vehicle in violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law and conducted a traffic stop.

The operator, identified as Angela P. Torres, age 62, of Jackson Heights, N.Y., exhibited signs of intoxication.

A 15-year-old child was also present in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Torres was taken into custody and transported to SP Poughkeepsie for processing.

She submitted to a chemical breath test, which yielded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%.

The child was safely released to a sober third party.

As a result of the investigation, Torres was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger under Leandra’s Law, a Class E Felony.

She was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

Torres was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear before the Town of LaGrange Court at a later date.
