CANDIA — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash that occurred Saturday morning on Route 101.
At 10:20 a.m. on Aug. 30, state police dispatch received a report of a tractor-trailer that had crossed opposing lanes before coming to a stop off the side of the road on Route 101 westbound in Candia.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer, an International Harvester driven by David Young of Sandown, had been traveling westbound when its driver observed a tow truck in the right breakdown lane and moved over to the left lane.
Behind the tractor-trailer was a pickup truck, a Ram 2500 driven by Nicholas Picard of Berwick, Maine, towing a landscaping trailer.
The driver of the pickup truck moved to the right lane to pass the tractor-trailer.
As the Ram 2500 approached the tow truck, the driver veered to the left and side-swiped the tractor-trailer, which caused it to veer to the center median.
The tractor-trailer then crossed the eastbound lanes of travel and came to rest on the embankment of the right-hand shoulder off the road.
No other vehicles were struck.
The right lane of Route 101 eastbound was closed for approximately three hours so the tractor-trailer could be removed from the scene.
There were no injuries reported due to this crash.
Troopers from the Troop A barracks were assisted on scene by Troopers from the Troop G barracks, members of the Candia police and fire departments, Raymond Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Alison J. Baumbach at 603-223-4381 or [email protected].
