Boston police arrest 2 in Roxbury drug trafficking case

BOSTON — Officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District B-2 arrested Angel Mejia-Torres, 30, of Dorchester, and Michael Muriel-Marrero, 28, of Boston, on drug trafficking charges Thursday.

Police were on patrol in the area of Shawmut Avenue and North Hampton Street when they observed what they believed to be a drug transaction.

Officers followed one of the individuals and recovered two plastic bags of fentanyl weighing 15 grams.

Drug Control Officers requested assistance from B-2 Patrol officers in stopping the second suspect who was operating a motor vehicle.

Officers stopped the suspect in the area of Columbus Avenue and Centre Street and recovered several bags of fentanyl weighing approximately 66 grams as well as $1,642 in U.S. currency.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Mejia-Torres faces charges of trafficking of Class A and distribution of Class A.

Muriel-Marrero faces charges of trafficking of Class A and resisting arrest.
