BRUNSWICK — The driver of the commercial vehicle that crashed into a home on State Route 2 has been identified as John P. O’Brien, 74, of Wynantskill, according to New York State Police.
O’Brien was operating a 2020 Kenworth T880 hauling a large dump trailer loaded with approximately 116,000 pounds of gravel at the time of the crash.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Aug. 28.
Troopers responded to reports that a commercial vehicle had struck a residence on State Route 2.
No residents were inside the home at the time.
O’Brien was confirmed deceased at the scene.
The vehicle has since been removed from the property, which has been deemed uninhabitable due to the damage.
State Route 2 was reopened to traffic at about 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 28.
An autopsy was conducted on Aug. 29 by Dr. Kia Newman at Albany Medical Center.
Preliminary results indicate that O’Brien experienced a medical event prior to the collision.
The final determination and report are pending further laboratory testing.
The investigation remains ongoing.
