TEWKSBURY — Tewksbury police arrested and charged an 18-year-old Lynn man with trafficking fentanyl on Aug. 27.
Dany Mejia Gomez was charged with trafficking in 100 grams or more of fentanyl, according to Chief Ryan Columbus.
The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into narcotics distribution within Middlesex County.
Tewksbury police worked with assistance from the DEA New England Field Division Cross Border Initiative Task Force 4.
During a search of Mejia Gomez’s person and vehicle, officers located over 140 grams of fentanyl.
A subsequent investigation determined that Mejia Gomez did not hold the necessary paperwork to be in the United States and was in the country illegally.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified.
Mejia Gomez is being held at the Middlesex House of Correction and Jail in Billerica.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
