Albany, NY man charged in Central Avenue stabbing

ALBANY — A 61-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Central Avenue near Henry Johnson Boulevard.

James Holmes was arrested last evening following an investigation by members of the Albany Police Department.

On Thursday, Aug. 14 around 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of Central Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard for reports of an individual stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old male with significant stab wounds to his arms.

The victim was treated on scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Through investigation, it was determined that Holmes stabbed the victim outside in front of 45 Central Avenue.

Holmes has been charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

He was arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
