Albany, NY teen arrested in connection with 2 vehicle thefts

ALBANY — An 18-year-old Albany man has been arrested in connection with two separate motor vehicle thefts, police said.

Keyariyon Rucker was taken into custody Wednesday morning in the area of Second Street and Judson Street following investigations by detectives from the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

The first theft occurred on Lenox Avenue near Berkshire Boulevard, where officers responded around 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 12 for reports of a stolen vehicle.

The victim told police her vehicle had last been seen in her driveway around 9 p.m. on Aug. 11.

When the victim awoke, her vehicle was gone.

The vehicle was later tracked to the area of 900 Central Avenue and subsequently recovered.

The second theft occurred on Brevator Street near Washington Avenue, where officers responded around 12:10 a.m. on Aug. 25 for reports of another stolen vehicle.

The victim told officers he had parked his vehicle on the street in front of his residence.

Minutes later he observed three juveniles enter his vehicle and drive away.

The vehicle was later recovered at 3 Bleeker Terrace and returned to the owner.

Through investigation, detectives identified Rucker as the individual responsible for stealing both vehicles.

Rucker has been charged with two counts of grand larceny in the third degree.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $10,000.
