Geneva man arrested in fatal overdose case

GENEVA — Members of the City of Geneva Police Department’s Uniformed Division responded to the area of One-Way William Street for a reported drug overdose Tuesday at approximately 2:20 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a 35-year-old female unresponsive in a U-Haul truck.

Officers, assisted by Finger Lakes Ambulance Paramedics and the Geneva Fire Department, performed life-saving measures, but the female victim was beyond help and passed away.

The City of Geneva Police Department’s Detective Bureau was able to identify a person of interest who sold the controlled substance that led to the fatal overdose.

Detectives arrested Charles C. Karsten, a City of Geneva resident and convicted felon, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

While being taken into custody, detectives located a large quantity of controlled substances consistent with the controlled substances found with the female victim.

Charles C. Karsten was processed and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
