MONTEZUMA — Eric C. Vroman, 40, of Port Byron was arrested Aug. 21 on charges of criminal contempt in the second degree and aggravated family offense, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Deputies arrested Vroman at 12:19 p.m. following an investigation that began Aug. 18.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies were dispatched to an address in Montezuma to investigate a potential order of protection violation.
The investigation revealed the victim was receiving text messages from Vroman in violation of an order of protection issued by Cayuga County Family Court.
Vroman was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a Class E felony, due to past domestic violence convictions.
Vroman was brought to centralized arraignment, where he was remanded.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Montezuma Court on Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.
