SPRINGFIELD — A 34-year-old Springfield woman has been charged with retail theft after allegedly shoplifting from a local Hallmark store.
Chelsea Perry was arrested Aug. 19 at 10:12 p.m. on an unrelated warrant and issued a criminal citation for the retail theft incident that occurred Aug. 15 at 3:18 p.m.
An employee of Tina’s Hallmark called the Springfield Police Department on Aug. 15 to report a shoplifting incident.
Sgt. Perkins responded to the call and reviewed security video footage from the store.
Police said Perkins was able to positively identify Perry as the suspect from prior law enforcement encounters.
The security camera video showed Perry taking merchandise without paying, according to police.
Perry has been issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit on Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. to answer for the retail theft charge.
The incident was investigated by Sgt. Perkins and Cpl. Guzzo.
