FAIRFIELD — Maine State Fire Marshal investigators are examining a house fire that destroyed a home on Martin Stream Road on Saturday night.
The fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. on Aug. 23, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s office.
Fire Marshal Office investigators were passing through the area when the call came in and responded to assist the Fairfield Fire Department.
The homeowner was not present during the incident.
No injuries were reported.
Preliminary findings indicate the fire likely originated from an electrical malfunction in the ceiling structure or wall of the home’s addition.
Initial fire patterns observed at the scene are consistent with an electrical failure, officials said.
Fire officials continue to examine the incident to confirm the exact cause of the malfunction.
