Rutland man arrested on second DUI charge after traffic stop

RUTLAND — Vermont State Police arrested a 63-year-old Rutland man on his second DUI charge following a traffic stop on Stratton Road on Aug. 25.

David W. Powers was stopped at approximately 7:15 p.m. after police observed his vehicle speeding eastbound on Woodstock Avenue and appearing to pass in the center turn lane.

During the traffic stop, officers observed indicators of impairment while speaking with Powers.

Powers was screened and arrested for DUI, then transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing.

He was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court-Rutland Criminal Division on Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. to answer the charge of DUI#2.
