AVON — A Rochester woman was arrested on felony weapon charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 390.
Lastephanie Gause, 22, was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree after being found in possession of metal knuckles during a traffic stop Aug. 24.
Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Pilkenton conducted the traffic stop at approximately 6:36 p.m. after observing a vehicle violating state traffic law while traveling south on Interstate 390.
Gause was identified as a passenger in the vehicle during the roadside investigation.
The felony charge is based on Gause having a previous conviction of a crime, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.
Gause was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
She was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of West Sparta Justice Mahany.
The judge released Gause on her own recognizance as the offense does not qualify for bail under the state Bail Reform Act.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Gause at the arraignment, while the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
