FALMOUTH — Falmouth Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Thomas B. Landers Road and Geggatt Road on Monday, Aug. 25, at 5:21 a.m.
Officers arrived to find a Subaru Outback overturned against a utility pole and a Toyota Highlander with extensive damage in the roadway.
Falmouth Fire and Rescue also responded to assess injuries and monitor a small fire caused when the damaged power line struck nearby trees.
The Toyota’s operator was transported to Falmouth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicates the Subaru crossed into the Toyota’s lane, struck it, then hit the utility pole and overturned.
The Subaru’s occupant(s) fled before police arrival.
A Mashpee Police K9 unit assisted in a search, but the operator and any additional occupants have not yet been identified.
The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations also responded to process the scene.
Falmouth Police Detectives are assisting with the investigation.
Both vehicles were towed, and Eversource responded to replace the damaged utility pole.
As of 11 a.m. the roadway is still closed.
