DRACUT — Police Chief Peter Bartlett reports that the Dracut Police Department responded early Saturday morning to a home on Varnum Road that was struck by several bullets.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, at approximately 4:25 a.m., the Dracut Police Department was called to the area of Varnum Road and Robert Street for a report of gunfire.

Officers arrived to discover a dozen spent shell casings scattered across Varnum Road in the area of Robert Street.

A nearby homeowner also discovered that several bullets struck their home, including at least four that were found inside on a dining room floor and in an upstairs hallway.

There were no reported injuries.

A subsequent investigation determined that the gunshots were fired from a light-colored sedan that drove past the home.
