HARTLAND — A 31-year-old homeless man was arrested Friday night on charges of being a fugitive from justice and providing false information to law enforcement following a traffic stop at the Hartland Laundromat.
Andrew D. Picknell was taken into custody at 8:30 p.m. after deputies conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Edgewood Lane.
Deputy Hunter Buchanan and Deputy Jab Black of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department initially observed a motor vehicle violation around 8 p.m.
During the investigation, Picknell, who was a passenger in the vehicle, provided the false name “Ajay Picknel” along with a suspected false date of birth to officers.
Officers from the Windsor Police Department responded to assist with identifying the passenger.
Deputy Buchanan found probable cause to arrest Picknell for providing false information to law enforcement.
Picknell also had an extraditable warrant from New Hampshire for possessing fentanyl.
He was charged as a fugitive from justice due to the New Hampshire warrant.
Picknell was transported to Windsor Police Department for processing and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility.
He is being held on $10,000 bail.
Picknell is scheduled to appear in Windsor court on Aug. 25 at 12:30 p.m. for the fugitive warrant and on Oct. 14 at 12:30 p.m. for the false information charge.
