DANBURY — Just before 6:30 p.m. this evening, Danbury Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 2 Lake Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck and provided medical assistance until EMS arrived.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Responding officers quickly gathered information regarding the suspected shooter, and his vehicle was immediately spotted in the vicinity.
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle collided with a Danbury Police cruiser and was stopped on Interstate 84 West near the New York border.
The subject was subsequently apprehended, and a handgun was recovered.
The officer involved in the crash suffered minor injuries during the apprehension of the subject.
Neither the subject nor the victim is being identified at this time as the investigation continues.
