Boston police arrest Rhode Island teen after foot chase yields loaded gun

BOSTON — Officers assigned to District B-2 arrested Nathias Villanueva, 18, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on various firearm offenses Saturday.

About 12:20 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Washington Street when they observed a group of individuals running across the street all dressed in black while holding their waistbands.

Officers observed the group attempting to conceal themselves behind multiple trees.

Officers exited their cruiser and approached the group on foot.

Officers announced their presence, and the group fled in different directions.

During the foot chase, a suspect was seen clutching his waistband as he was running.

Officers were able to stop the suspect and recovered a firearm from his sweatpants.

District B-2 detectives responded to the scene and determined the firearm to be a Glock 20 with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the magazine.

Villanueva was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device and unlawful possession of ammunition.
