Teen electrocuted in Rochester water tank, hospitalized

ROCHESTER — Troopers out of State Police Ellenville responded to a report of an unconscious individual on Ridgeview Road in the town of Rochester on Aug. 20 at approximately 8:15 p.m.

The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old victim entered a large tank of water, referred to as a Mikvah, and grabbed a handheld pool heater, resulting in electrocution and loss of consciousness.

The victim was retrieved from the water and received life-saving measures by EMS at the scene.

The victim was ultimately transported to Westchester Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
