Holyoke police seize heroin, fentanyl, crack cocaine in drug arrest

HOLYOKE — Holyoke police officers seized approximately 40 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl and two vials of suspected crack cocaine during a drug arrest Tuesday.

Police Chief Brian Keenan announced that Officers Nigel Astwood and Edward Guerrero responded to 446 Maple Street at approximately 2:15 p.m. for a report of drug activity.

Officers located an individual matching the suspect’s description by a dumpster.

The suspect was later identified as Anthony Broden.

Officers discovered Broden had an outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest.

During a search, officers also seized $451 in cash.

Anthony Broden, 41, of West Springfield is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class A drug, possession of a Class B drug and a default warrant from Holyoke District Court.
