FALL RIVER — A 34-year-old Fall River man was arrested Aug. 19 after police responded to reports of a stabbing and found him in possession of suspected narcotics.

Officers responded to the area of Second and Wade streets in the afternoon for reports of a male suffering from a stab wound to the leg.

Upon arrival, officers observed Vincent Valois bleeding from his leg, acting belligerent and refusing repeated commands to stop and show his hands.

Officers gave commands while observing Valois repeatedly reaching into his waistband and creating a traffic hazard by entering the roadway.

Despite multiple warnings, Valois advanced toward officers in an aggressive manner, at one point demanding to be shot.

A Massachusetts State Trooper and a Fall River police officer both deployed their TASERs, which proved ineffective.

Officers brought Valois to the ground, where he actively resisted but was secured in handcuffs after a brief struggle.

During a medical evaluation, officers located suspected narcotics in Valois’s possession, later determined to be approximately 1 gram of powdered cocaine and 0.8 grams of crack cocaine.

Valois declined medical treatment at Saint Anne’s Hospital and was transported to the Fall River Police Department for booking and processing.
