Boston police recover rifle after ShotSpotter activation in Roxbury

BOSTON — Boston police recovered a rifle and ballistic evidence following a ShotSpotter activation in Roxbury on Monday night.

Officers assigned to District B-2 responded to the activation in the area of 11 Balfour Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 18.

Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and recovered multiple pieces of ballistic evidence in the side parking lot of 11 Balfour Street.

During an expanded search, officers located a black .223 caliber rifle inside a black duffle bag along with a white t-shirt on the front landing of 9 Balfour Street.

Additional ballistic damage was located on a vehicle parked on Howard Avenue, at 28 Cunningham Street, and a basketball hoop near Howard Avenue.

Detectives assigned to District B-2 are actively investigating the incident.
