GLENBURN — A 19-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a female family member with a hatchet Saturday evening.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pushaw Road at approximately 6:40 p.m. Aug. 17 for a report of an assault.
While deputies were responding, additional information indicated the victim had been stabbed by the suspect.
During the investigation, authorities determined that Ethan Herbert of Glenburn had struck the 59-year-old female family member with a hatchet.
The victim was transported by ambulance from the scene with serious injuries.
Herbert fled the scene before deputies arrived but was apprehended a short time later on the roadway.
Herbert was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, domestic violence elevated aggravated assault and attempted murder.
The female remained hospitalized from injuries sustained during the attack.
