MT. MORRIS — An 18-year-old Mt. Morris man was arrested on felony robbery charges following an incident at a North Main Street business, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies responded to the business at approximately 11:28 p.m. Aug. 17 for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
The suspect had fled the business on foot, according to the report.
Deputies obtained a description of the suspect and located a male matching the description a short distance from the business.
Gavin Jett allegedly entered the business, approached the counter and demanded cash from the cash register while brandishing a knife, according to the investigation.
Jett was charged with felony robbery in the first degree, menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, false personation and providing a false written statement.
He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Jett was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Caledonia Justice Riggi.
The District Attorney’s Office recommended Jett be held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The judge remanded Jett to the custody of the sheriff on the recommended bail and bond.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Jett at the arraignment.
The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.
Members of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Unit handled the investigation.
