LAWRENCE — Patrol Division officers arrested a man on firearm charges Friday while conducting crowd dispersal operations in the area of Market Street.
Officers were addressing a large group that had gathered, playing loud music and committing various traffic violations, according to the Lawrence Police Department.
During the crowd dispersal, officers encountered a vehicle with revoked insurance status and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver cooperated with officers initially, but during the interaction, he attempted to conceal an unsecured firearm that was visibly located in the driver-side door panel storage compartment.
The driver did not possess a valid license to carry the firearm.
He was taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple firearm-related offenses.
The suspect was transported to the station for processing.
