BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers assigned to District B-2 arrested a 29-year-old Fitchburg man on firearm-related charges Saturday after responding to a report of a person with a gun in Roxbury.

Frederic Dawhensky was arrested at approximately 9:27 p.m. in the area of 2565 Washington Street after officers received a radio call about an individual seen in possession of a firearm.

Officers were provided with a description of the suspect and were directed to the location upon arrival.

Police observed a male matching the description, later identified as Dawhensky, and approached him.

Officers instructed Dawhensky to remove his right hand from his pocket, and when he complied, they observed a weighted object in his shorts.

A pat-frisk revealed a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun inside the right pocket of his shorts.

The firearm was determined to be unloaded, with a magazine containing nine rounds of ammunition.

Dawhensky is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license and carrying ammunition without an FID card.
