PALERMO — A 17-year-old was shot in the buttock with a .22 caliber Ruger rifle during an altercation at a residence on State Route 49 on Aug. 13.
State Police responded to a report of a disturbance at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The investigation determined that the victim went to the suspect’s residence, where an altercation occurred.
During the incident, a 17-year-old suspect shot the victim with the rifle.
The victim fled the scene following the shooting and was later located and transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect has been cooperative during the investigation.
A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order has been filed and the weapon has been secured by police.
No charges have been filed against the suspect at this time.
Due to the suspect’s age, potential charges are being reviewed in consultation with the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
