BRUNSWICK — State Police arrested a 38-year-old Brunswick man on multiple felony charges following a disturbance where shots were allegedly fired.
William E. Foster was taken into custody Aug. 12 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony.
He also faces two counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, a class D felony.
Additional charges include two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a class D felony.
Foster was charged with two counts of criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony.
He faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Foster was also charged with menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, and two counts of criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an incident Aug. 9 at about 1:59 p.m. when troopers responded to a home in Schaghticoke for reports of a disturbance with shots fired.
Police said Foster came to the residence uninvited and engaged in a verbal altercation with an adult victim.
Foster was allegedly inside a vehicle stopped in the roadway while the victim, who was known to him, was outside the vehicle and another adult was standing outside the home.
During the argument, Foster allegedly discharged a firearm from within the vehicle, then fled in the vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Police determined there was an active stay-away court order against Foster listing the two victims as protected parties at the time of the incident.
Two children under the age of 16 were inside the home when the firearm was discharged.
An arrest warrant was issued for Foster by Schaghticoke Town Court on Aug. 11.
Foster was located and arrested Aug. 12 on Northline Drive in Schaghticoke.
Police said felony weight narcotics were discovered in Foster’s vehicle while he was being taken into custody.
He was transported to State Police Brunswick for processing.
Foster was arraigned at Schaghticoke Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
