WATERTOWN — New York State Police arrested a 47-year-old Sackets Harbor man Thursday on charges related to child sexual exploitation material.
Robert C. Bennett was charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony.
The investigation stemmed from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.
The arrest resulted from a joint investigation by members of the Computer Crime Unit – Troop D, the State Police Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation – Watertown, ICAC – Albany, and Homeland Security Investigations.
Forensic analysis of the suspect’s electronic devices is underway and may result in additional charges as the investigation progresses.
Bennett was arraigned at Watertown City Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $1,000 cash, $10,000 bond, and $20,000 unsecured bond.
