UTICA — A 27-year-old man has been charged with burglary after allegedly stealing from a grocery store he was previously banned from entering.

Malcolm Palmer, who has no known address, was arrested Aug. 15 by the Utica Police Department’s Warrants Unit.

Police were dispatched to the South Utica Price Chopper on July 29 for a larceny investigation.

Loss prevention associates told officers they recognized Palmer from previous thefts at the store.

Palmer had been issued a ban letter prohibiting him from being on the premises.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division due to the upgraded burglary charge.

Palmer was charged with burglary in the third degree and petit larceny.
