Salem man dies in electrical accident involving hydraulic lift

SALEM — A 45-year-old Salem man died Thursday after a hydraulic lift came into contact with overhead power lines on North Broadway.

Marc Glaser was found deceased in the bucket of the hydraulic lift near a junction of power lines that run along Route 28, according to the Salem Police Department.

The incident occurred around 1:21 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of 158 North Broadway when a 911 call reported injuries from electric shock.

A second male worker suffered serious electrical burns and was transported to Mass General Hospital in Boston by Salem Fire.

Both men worked for a landscaping company doing work in the area.

Salem Police secured the area while Salem Fire and Liberty Utilities ensured the scene was safe.

A bank and gas station in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution during the investigation.

Salem Police said the incident appears to be a tragic accident.

The New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and OSHA responded to assist in the investigation, which remains active.
