Meriden man arrested on weapons charges after traffic stop

MERIDEN — Members of the Crime Suppression Unit, along with the assistance of the Patrol Division, conducted a motor vehicle stop on Cook Avenue near Summer Street on Thursday.

The vehicle, a BMW, was being operated by Isaiah Williams, 22, of East Haven.

Located inside of the vehicle was a Kel-Tec PMR30 .22 caliber handgun along with a NcStar red dot gun sight.

A records check indicated that the gun was previously stolen out of Fayetteville, N.C.

Since Williams is a convicted felon, he was immediately placed under arrest.

He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, two counts of interfering with police, failure to submit to fingerprints, misuse of registration plate, operation of a motor vehicle without a license, insufficient insurance, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with a cancelled registration, no front registration plate and obstructed view.

Williams was assigned a court date for Aug. 28 and held on $750,000 bond.
