2 Brooklyn, Elmira men arrested on drug charges in Ithaca

ITHACA — Two men were arrested on felony drug charges after police discovered approximately 10.5 ounces of cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop Aug. 12.

Khalid J. Husband, 29, of Brooklyn, and Mark R. Waters, 29, of Elmira, were taken into custody at approximately 10:29 p.m. after members of the New York State Police and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office investigated a black Dodge Durango parked at West Green Street and South Geneva Street.

The City of Ithaca Police Department had alerted the officers to the vehicle, which was suspected of being involved in an illegal narcotics sale as part of a Gun Involved Violence Elimination detail.

A K9 search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the cocaine.

Both men were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a Class A-I felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony.

They were transported to State Police Ithaca for processing and arraigned in Ithaca City Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
