YORKTOWN — New York State Police Troop K Traffic Incident Management Unit conducted an Operation Hard Hat enforcement detail along the Taconic State Parkway on Aug. 13.
The four-hour detail was conducted in partnership with the New York State Department of Transportation.
Troopers issued 76 citations during the operation.
The citations included 32 for speeding, 8 for cell phone use, 2 for Move Over law violations, and other traffic offenses.
Operation Hard Hat aims to reduce reckless and distracted driving in highway work zones.
The operation is designed to protect roadside workers, emergency responders, and motorists.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, move over for stopped vehicles, avoid distractions, and obey posted signs in all work zones.
