Copenhagen man arrested on child exploitation charges

COPENHAGEN — New York State Police arrested Tyler J. Chereshnoski, 21, of Copenhagen, on Aug. 13 on charges related to child sexual exploitation material.

Chereshnoski faces one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a Class D felony, and one count of possession of a sexual performance by a child, a Class E felony.

The charges stem from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.

The arrest resulted from a joint investigation by members of the State Police Computer Crime Unit – Troop D, the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation – Lowville, the ICAC Unit in Albany, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Chereshnoski was arraigned in the Town of Denmark Court and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
