UTICA — A 38-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a knife and preventing her from calling 911.

Police units were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of State Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. Aug. 13 regarding a domestic-related incident.

The victim told officers she and her boyfriend had engaged in an argument over the future status of their relationship.

During the conversation, the male suspect grabbed a knife and began walking around the apartment with it while yelling at the victim, according to police.

The woman was able to grab her phone and flee from the residence.

Geiger, of Utica, was transported to the Utica Police Department and charged with assault in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, petit larceny, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
