NAUGATUCK — Police arrested five people following a fight in a Walmart parking lot that stemmed from a road rage incident on New Haven Road.
Officers were called to the Walmart at 1100 New Haven Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. Aug. 13 for a fight involving five people in the parking lot.
Two cars involved in the incident had left the area before police arrived.
Police reviewed camera footage and spoke to several witnesses and one person involved in the fight.
The investigation revealed that an earlier road rage incident involving the merging of two lanes on New Haven Road started the argument.
The drivers of both cars pulled into the Walmart parking lot, where the argument became physical and escalated when other people in the cars became involved in the fight.
One person was evaluated at an area hospital for injuries.
Police later located the other four people involved who had left the scene and placed them under arrest.
Rui Silva-Pita, 44, of Waterbury was issued a misdemeanor summons charging him with breach of peace in the second degree.
Justine Rodriguez, 21, of Waterbury was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree and breach of peace in the second degree.
Rodriguez was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.
Joanna Santiago, 27, of Waterbury was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree.
Santiago was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
Jeremy Valerio, 21, of Watertown was arrested and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.
Valerio was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
Marisol Arroyo, 23, of Waterbury was arrested and charged with breach of peace in the second degree.
Arroyo was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
Silva-Pita is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 10.
Rodriguez, Santiago, Valerio and Arroyo are all scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Sept. 10.
