East Haven man arrested in Dunkin’ Donuts robbery attempt

EAST HAVEN — A 53-year-old man was arrested after attempting to rob a Dunkin’ Donuts on East Frontage Road, police said.

David Pulcinella of Miller Avenue, Meriden, entered the business at 96 East Frontage Road at approximately 2:50 p.m. Monday and demanded money from an employee while implying he had a firearm, according to East Haven police.

The employee fled through a rear door to safety, and Pulcinella left the business moments later without obtaining any money.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Detectives developed information linking Pulcinella to similar robbery attempts in nearby towns and identified his vehicle.

Officers located Pulcinella’s vehicle on Foxon Road and arrested him without incident.

Pulcinella confessed to the East Haven robbery attempt and to other robberies in Guilford and Cromwell, police said.

He was charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery in the first degree, threatening in the second degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

Pulcinella was held on $250,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
