Sebago man seriously injured in bicycle-truck crash on Route 302

SEBAGO — A 71-year-old Sebago man was seriously injured when his electronic bicycle collided with a pickup truck on Route 302 at the intersection of Brown Avenue on Tuesday morning.

James Nason was transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center after the crash at 11:14 a.m., according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Nason was traveling eastbound on Route 302 in the breakdown lane when he attempted to turn left across the highway onto Brown Avenue.

His bicycle struck the side of a 2004 Toyota Tacoma driven by David Fields, 29, of Portland, who was traveling eastbound in the travel lane.

Nason was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from his bicycle, sustaining serious injuries.

Fields was not injured and his vehicle sustained only minor damage.

Cumberland County deputies, along with Casco Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene.

An independent witness and nearby business video confirmed the sequence of events, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators found no suspected wrongdoing by Fields.

Nason’s family has been notified of the crash.

The case remains under investigation.
